I hold a Blue Badge (the highest level qualification for a British tourist guide) for the Heart of England region, which comprises Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Cotswolds, Warwickshire, West Midlands, Cherwell & West Oxfordshire, and I am a member of both the Guild of Registered Tourist Guides and the Institute of Tourist Guiding.
I am also a full member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists. I am fluent in English and German, and I am qualified to guide in both languages.
In January 2011, I obtained the “2012 Venues” endorsement from the Institute of Tourist Guiding, after successfully completing a course covering the history of the Olympics, the London venues and issues associated with the games. This enables me to offer an expert guiding service to anyone wishing to visit the former Olympics venues.
I have provided a tour planning and tourist guiding service for groups and individuals as varied as a coach tour around Birmingham for an Austrian football team’s supporters’ club, a three-day trip to Leicestershire for German business professionals, a three-week tour of London and South England for an American couple celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary, a four day tour of Yorkshire and the Lake District for a group of German holiday-makers, a day tour of the Cotswolds for a group of people celebrating a gentleman’s 60th birthday, and a tour of Birmingham’s Museum and Art Gallery for a group of French trainee teachers. You may even have seen me on The Gadget Show, testing footwear alongside Jon Bentley on one of my ghost walks around the city.
You can rest assured that whatever your requirements, I can tailor-make a tour for you.
